                                                      Buying and Merchandising Manager (working 100%)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Buyign and Merchandising Manager is to support China Head of Buy and Merchandising in responsible for initiating and executing strategies of Product assortment, Pricing, Place and Promotion to satisfy different consumer needs so as to drive a collaborated strategy across functions to achieve commercial Target.

The role serves as the liaison between Sales Management, Marketing and VM, and Demand planning/Inventory management; Prepare quality seasonal assortment plan at pre-season planning stage; Build and monitor consistent assortment KPI; Closely work with Regional Brand Merchandising function and Regional Buying function to implement Asia strategic brand plan and deliver best –in-class sub-brand and concept launch; Drive a standardized assortment planning process and build a proactive assortment control mechanism to maximize total product efficiency. Facilitate Integrated Commercial Calendar (ICC) and Monthly Commercial Driver with sales promotion scheme designed to cope with Retail momentum.

The ultimate goal is to build a strategic assortment management that embody brand vision and attain country financial goal (i.e. Revenue, Volume and Gross Margin).

Roles & Responsibilities:  

  • Leader of Buying and Merchandising with two subordinate buying managers to cover 2 channels.
  • Work closely with HQ Brand team and internal cross functional team on a regular, formalized basis to develop and ensure the unity and appropriateness of Merchandise vision and strategy.
  • Work closely with China Marketing team on Commercial Calendar Development and Plan to guarantee an effective and solid go-to-market process synergy of both Product plan and Market plan to hook up with retail buzz in the lingerie market.
  • Manage styles to the plan, ensuring that each item STR growth and that the assortment is properly balanced and invested. Keep an appropriate balance of segments, product line, price tier, color, etc. and regular communication with HQ team to voice out China’s product requirements.
  • Key liaison with HQ team on competitor insights sharing for major lingerie players, based on the fruits generated from buying team’s market visit and field survey.
  • Ad hoc merchandising projects from HQ Brand team, eg. focus group, top20 plan, and etc.
  • Guidance to channel buying managers on product plan download and make sure of the directional consistence in assortment and buy.
    • OTB Plan and Pricing Strategy Identification
    • Buying Plan and Order/Reorder placing
    • Product Planning, Allocation and Forecasting
    • Product Transfer, Replenishment and Stock Control
    • Performance Analysis and STR tracking
    • Product information development and Product master database
    • Merchandise Incentive Program initiating
    • Returned Merchandise Standard and Process identifying
    • Market report and competitors report   

Your ideal profile:

  • Communication skills, relationship management and empathy
  • High degree of integrity and loyalty
  • Good business acumen of retail industry
  • Leadership capability of a medium-sized team
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in merchandising, buying in retail industry
  • Strong sensitivity to fashion and lingerie market trends
  • Strong understanding of retail math, different types and uses of data, distillation of key insights, and (predictive) analytics – including a strong ability to turn this into strategic actions
  • Degree holder in Marketing & Sales focused, Business or related disciplines
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
  • Proficient in MS Office application (Strong in Excel & PowerPoint) with strong professional presentation skills
