Our IT Department in Tokyo is looking for an experienced E-Commerce product manager with expertise in Japan market to join us as:

JAPAN E-COMMERCE PRODUCT OWNER

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

As the E-Commerce Product Owner (DTC), you will drive the development and optimization of digital commerce platforms and services, ensuring seamless consumer experiences and alignment with business goals. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, development teams, and digital operations, owning the product backlog and guiding the team toward delivering high-impact features.

GENERAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and Prioritize eCommerce Features
    Collaborate with Digital commerce team, brand team, UIUX, and analytics teams to shape and prioritize the product backlog, including enhancements to site performance, checkout flow, personalization, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Consumer-Centric Incident Management
    Lead prioritization and resolution of platform-related incidents (e.g., payment failures, site outages, cart issues), ensuring minimal disruption to consumer experience and sales.
  • Drive Digital Product Development
    Oversee timely delivery of new features and integrations (e.g., MRM, SAP, payment gateways, loyalty programs), ensuring alignment with eCommerce strategy and budget.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    Act as the voice of the consumer and business, regularly updating stakeholders on progress, collecting feedback, and aligning product direction with commercial goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Work closely with Global IT, digital commerce, marketing, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of eCommerce solutions.
  • Data Enablement for Analytics
    Ensure accurate and timely data flow from eCommerce platforms to analytics tools for performance tracking, consumer insights, and campaign optimization.
  • Measure Success
    Define and monitor KPIs such as conversion rate, average order value, bounce rate, and consumer satisfaction to evaluate product performance.
  • Risk & Compliance Management
    Identify and mitigate risks related to data privacy, payment security, and platform stability in collaboration with global IT security and compliance teams.
  • Continuous Optimization
    Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement through A/B testing, user feedback, and agile retrospectives.
  • Resource Coordination
    Manage internal and external resources (e.g., development partners like Accenture) to ensure efficient delivery and operational excellence.
  • User Training & Support
    Provide onboarding and support for internal users (e.g., content managers, customer service teams) to ensure effective use of new features and tools.
  • Feedback Loop & Iteration
    Gather and analyze user and consumer feedback to inform backlog refinement and future development cycles.
  • Release Management
    Plan and coordinate releases with Global IT team, ensuring readiness across business units and minimal disruption to live operations.
  • Acceptance Testing & Go-Live Approval
    Lead UAT and release sign-off in collaboration with business owners, ensuring new features meet quality and business expectations.
  • Translate Business Goals into Digital Solutions
    Convert strategic eCommerce objectives into actionable user stories and technical requirements, enabling solution architects to design scalable systems.

YOUR IDEAL PROFILE:

[Mandatory]

  • 5+ years related experience as product manager for own-site E-Commerce platform focusing on Japan market, preferably in D2C, FMCG or Apparel industry.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in translating, planning and implementing business requirements into executable e-commerce solutions and IT deliverables.
  • Practical experience in AGILE software development.
  • Well versed in the following key tools and systems:
    • JIRA: Required for workflow management and communication between business and IT teams.
    • Salesforce Commerce Cloud: Essential platform knowledge; coding experience isn't required.
  • Experienced in working with global and local teams. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in Japanese (native/fluent level) and English (fluent level).

  • Working experience as IT PM, IT BA, IT SDM, IT BRM
  • Working experience to lead/support SFSC, MC projects
